Weinachtszeit- Holzzeit / Christmast time- wood time

 

Hallo meine Lieben

ich bin wieder vollständig genesen, und freue mich nun auf Weihnachten.

Letztes Jahr hat mir mein Albert eine Drechselbank zum Geburtstag geschenkt, und ich finde, das Holzarbeiten ganz hervorragend zu Weihnachten passen.

Kennz ihr Tscheikowskys Nussknacker?

 Ich liebe den Mäusekönig und habe ihn auf einer Kuchenplatte verewigt.

Den Fuß habe ich aus einem Stück Buchenholz gedrechselt.

Dann habe ich mich an kleinere  Formen herangewagt.

So entstand der Pilz, der meinen Wichteln nun Gesellschaft leistet.

Und weil das so schön geklappt hat, habe ich eine Spieluhr gemacht.

Mit Hilfe einer alten Zigarrenkiste, einem Uhrwerk, das "Stille Nacht spielt, Schnee- Strukturpaste

und einiger gedrechselter Figuren. Die Spieldose ist ein echtes Gemeinschaftswerk, den Albert hat die Tannenbäume gemacht und ich das Mädchen und den Schneemann.

Weihnachten kann kommen.

Gladfully I am fully recoverd and now I am looking foreward to christmas

Last year Albert gave me a wood- turning- machine for birthday.

I think woodwork and christmas belong together.

Du you know Tchaikowskys Nutcracker?

 I love the King of Mice and painted him on a cake- stand.

I turned the base from a piece of beech- wood.

Then I tried some smaller figures.

Like the mushroom wich accompanies my two gnomes.

And because this went so good, I tried to make a musical box.

You require an old cigar- box, a clockwork playing "silent night", snow- structure-paste

and some little figures. The music- box is a real teamwork, cause Albert turned the trees and I the girl and snowman- figure.

Christmas can come

Happy Halloween

Hallo ihr Lieben
Meine Operation ist ziemlich gut verlaufen, aber nachdem ich nun glaubte, alles hinter mir zu haben plagen mich seltsame Schmerzen.

Ich bin dieses Jahr nicht in der rechten Halloweenstimmung gewesen, was sicherlich an meinen gesundheitlichen Problemen aber auch am Wetter liegt. Während es an der Ostküste der USA schneit, haben wir hier tagsüber 20 Grad.

Das ist wundervoll, aber nicht sehr herbstlich.

Ich habe gestern noch einen sommerlichen Blumenstrauss gepflückt. Daneben sind Kürbisse und ein voradventlicher Weihnachtsstern meine Küchendekoration.

Ich habe zwei Halloweenbilder für euch. Lady in orange und Katze mit Hut.

Hallo my friends

My surgery went well, but after I

believed everything is fortunatly over now, I have got this strange pain.
This year I haven´t been in the right Halloween mood, which has something to do with my health issues but also depends on the weather. While it's snowing at the east coast of the USA, we have 20°C here in Germany.

This is wonderful, but not very autumnal.

Yesterday, I still picked a summer bouquet. In addition, are pumpkins and a poinsettia my kitchen decor.

I have two halloween paintings for you. The Lady in orange and Cat with hat.

Halloween Cats - Acrylic paint versus markers

Hallo ihr Lieben,
trotz brüllender Hitze konnte ich nicht wiederstehen zwei kleine Halloweenbilder zu malen, denn nach Halloween ist vor Halloween ( hi hi).
Das erste Bild habe ich mit meinen Lieblingsfarben den Filzstiften auf Leinwand gemalt, das untere ist mit Acrylfarben auf Holz gemacht.

Heute ist die Sommersonnenwende. Das ist ein magischer Zeitpunkt zu dem die Sonne seine größte Kraft entfaltet.

Immer noch kalt genug / still cold enough

Hallo ihr Lieben

Erst einmal danke für die lieben Geburtstagswünsche für meine Mama.

Sie war sehr gerührt, hat aber mit mir schimpfen müssen, weil ich mich so missverständlich ausgedrückt habe. Sie hatte vor ein paar Wochen Geburtstag.

Hier ist seit Donnerstag der Karneval beherrschend.

Auch wenn die Sonne sich zeigt ist es immer noch ganz schön kalt, jedenfalls kalt genug für Handschuhe. Ich hab mir ein paar gehäkelt die mich am Rosenmontag warm halten sollen.

Hier im Rheinland kommt man nicht daran vorbei (hi hi).

Hello my friends

First of all, I want to say thank you for your sweet birthday wishes for my mum.

She was honestly touched, but she rebuked me for expressing so mistakable. Her birthday is a few weeks ago, when I said she is today 70, I ment she is nowadays 70.

Since Thursday here rules Carneval. This is like your Mardi Gras.

Even allthough the sun is shining it is still cold enough to wear gloves. I crocheted some that will have to keep me warm on monday, when the carnival procession will be in the streets.

In this part of Germany you can´t hide (hi hi).

I´ll be back on Wednsday, when the madness is over

Badewannenrennen /Bathtube- race

Hallo ihr Lieben,

Ich möchte euch heute von einem tollen Sommerspektakel erzählen, dem jährlich stattfindenden Badewannenrennen auf der Wurm einem kleinen Bach, der sowohl nahe an meinem Haus, als auch durch einige Nachbargemeinden mäandert. In Geilenrirchen wurden dieses Jahr wieder über 60 Wannen zu Wasser gelassen.

Die Regeln sind einfach. Man muss auf einer 1,5km langen Strecke in, auf oder unter einer Wanne, die Wurm befahren. Wie man die Wanne einsetzt, welche anderen Materialien man benutzt,wie man seine Wanne dekoriert ist egal. Die Teilnehmer waren dieses Jahr wieder besonders erfinderisch.

Today I want to tell you about a great summer- event, the annual bathtube-race on the "Wurm". The urm (english worm) is a little stream wich meanders near my place and through some other communities.

In Geilenkirchen this year over 60 bathtubes were launched.

The Rules are easy. On a route of 1,5 km you have to navigate the stream in, on or under a bathtube.

In wish way the bathtube is used, wich other materials come into operation, and how the bathtube is decorated doesn´t matter.

This year the particioators were very fancy.

Der Pharao hatte an seinem Streitwagen nicht nur Schwimmkörper sondern auch Räder angebracht um die Untiefen heil zu überstehen

Liebe Freunde,

Ich glaub es geht bei den drei Musen um ein witziges Lieblingszitat.
Mein Bild ist inspiriert vom Anstehnden Karnvalsfest, was hier im Rheinland groß gefeiert wird.

Hello my friends, this is my entry for the "Three muses" topic of the week.
Here in Germany we celebrate Karneval, or  Fasching.
From 11.till 16.of February the people go crazy. Old an Young dress up in Costumes. The mayor of the town, has to give the town- keys to the "Fools".
And on Monday the "Prince- Karneval" and his people will through Candys and chocolat from his huge Wagon, while he is driving through the town.
The photos below show the "Karnevalszug" of my hometown.

Mancherlei, Potpourri

Hallo meine Lieben,

Ich hab mich in den letzten zwei Wochen rar gemacht. Ich hatte viel zu tun und habe heute gemerkt wieviel es nachzuholen galt, als ich eure Posts der letzten zwei Wochen gelesen habe.

Heute habe ich dafür aber eine Menge mitgebracht. Da sind erst mal zwei Fotos vom mittelalterlichen Samhain- oder Halloweeenfest auf der Eyneburg. Es war wieder ein großartiges Spectakel in einer sagenhaften Kulisse. Eine mittelalterliche Band rockte auf Harfen, Trommeln und Dudelsäcken und zwei Bilder von den Feuerkünstlern habe ich euch mitgebracht.

Danach galt es den "Mädchentag" vorzubereiten. An diesem Tag können alle Herzogenrather Mädchen ab 7 Jahren in das Bürgerhaus kommen und sich handwerklich, kreativ und sportlich bei verschiedenen Angeboten ausprobieren. Ich habe einen Malworkshop geleitet in dem die Mädchen Selbstbildnisse mit Acrylfarben auf Leinwand malen konnten. Ein paar Bilder seht ihr hier. Das sind echte "Weibsbilder". Es waren viel, viel mehr und wir alle hatten eine Menge Spaß.

Da bald Weihnachten vor der Tür steht habe ich ein paar Geschenkanhänger oder auch Weihnachtsbaumanhänger gebacken. Ja, genau! Sie sind aus dem guten alten Salzteig und nachher mit Wasserfarben, Glitter und Klarlack versehen. Ihr wisst noch alle wie das mit dem Salzteig geht oder

Man nehme:

1 Tasse Mehl

1 Tasse Salz
8- 10 EL Wasser
der fertige Teig kommt dann 30- 40 min bei 150°C in den Backofen
Dann habe ich noch ein kleines Winterbild gemalt, das ich euch hier zeige und habe heute beim durchlesen der Blogs eine wunderschöne Überraschung gesehen.
Die fabelhafte Bella hat einíge Awards für mich, was mich umhaut und unglaublich ehrt.

Bella ist eine phantastische Künstlerin und ein so lieber Mensch, schaut euch unbedingt ihren Blog an.

Hello my friends

I did not do any blogging the last two weeeks. I had a lot of work and I recogniced that you were so busy the last weeks, cause I read all of your recent posts today.
I want to show you a lot of things today. First there are two photos of the great mediaeval Samhain- or Halloweenfest on the Eynecastle. It was a great spectaculum infront of a captivating coulisse. Amediaeval band rockt with harps, drums and bagpipes. The photos show the fire- eaters and the band in the background.
After that I had a lot to do with preparations for the "Girlsday". On this day all girs from the town can come together and try to do several things in many workshops as creativ, crafty and sporty things . I offered a painting workshop where they could made their self- portrais with acrylic paint on canvas.You can see some of the pictures here. Aren´t they cool? There were much more and we had a lot of fun.

Soon is Christmas and so I baked some tags for presents or the christmastree. Yes, exactly! I baked them from good old salt- paste and then painted them with watercolours, glitter varnish. You know how to make a salt- paste, don´t you?

You have to take:

1 cup flour

1 cup salt

8- 10 tablespoons of water

when the paste is ready put it for 30- 40 min at 150°C in the ofen.

Then I painted this little winter- scene that I show you here and today I found a wonderful surprise when I read Bellas Blog.The wonderful Bella had some award for me, wich is a great honour.

I am so glad to met Bella, she is not just an exeptional artist but such alovely and caring person.

You all really enriched my life.

Die bayrische Prinzessin / The Bavarian Princess

Hallo meine Lieben,
da ist sie wieder, Sisi die Königin und Kaiserin. Doch auf meinem Bild ist sie noch eine kleine Prinzessin in Bayern. Sie trägt ein Dirndl und spielt mit ihrem Hund.
Ich mag die traditionelle Haartracht. Mit ihr sieht jede Frau aus, als würde sie eine Krone tragen. Das Bild wurde mit Acryl- und Wasserfarben gemalt, der Hintergrund und Sisis Rock mit Glitzerfarbe versehen.
Was soll ich sagen, ich mag es bunt und kitschig, ich kann es nicht ändern.
Das kleine Foto von mir, wurde vor fünf Jahren aufgenommen, als ich auf einer Oktoberfest- Party war.
Wie ihr sehen könnt, steht mir die Haarkrone auch ganz gut ;0)

Hallo my friends,
there she is again, Sisi the Queen and Empress. But on my painting she is still a little bavarian princess. She is wearing a Dirndl ( the traditional bavarian and austrian dress) and is playing with her dog.
I like the traditionally hairdo. With that, every woman looks as if she is wearing a crown.
The painting was made with acrylicpaint and watercolours on stretched canvas.
On the blue background (The blue and white rhombi are the bavarian flag) and Sisis skirt I put glitter.
What should I say, I like it colourful and kitschy. I can´t help it.
The little photo of me was taken five years ago, when I was on an Oktoberfest- party (the real "Oktoberfest" is in Munich. I live in another part of Germany where we don´t wear Dirndls usually). As you can see the hair- crown suits me quiet well ;0)

Mein Maiherz / My may- heart

Hallo meine Lieben, ich hab gestern zu den Glücklichen gehört, die von ihrem Liebsten ein Maiherz geschenkt bekamen.
Das ist ein ein Grund zur Freude und deshalb zeige ich euch voller Stolz dieses Bild.
Einige meiner lieben Leser aus Übersee haben gefragt, was es mit der Maifeier auf sich hat.
Ich denke ich werde dazu ein paar erklärende Worte schreiben müssen, doch euch allen im deutschsprachigen Raum brauche ich gewiss nicht zu erklären, was es mit dem "Tanz in den Mai" und mit "Walpurgisnacht" auf sich hat.

Hello everybody,
some of you were asking me, what that may- celebration and the beltane fest is about.
I answerd the comments but you might not read it.
In Germany we have that huge May- celebration. In the Center of the villages we put a maypole. People were dancing around. There is music and we have bonfires. And the young guys put little decorated birch- trees in front of the windows of there girls.The older girls (like me) may get a flower- heart, if their men are careing enough.
I belong to the lucky ones, as you can see. And so I can proudly present my may- heart.
This party was yesterday. Today is Walpurgistag or Belane which is an ancient fest of the celts and simular the teutons. It is a pagan- fest but in Germany very well known, because of all the old customs and rituals, which still exist and because of all the fairy-tales of witches, who fly to the witch- mountain, known as Blocksberg on this night. So that is the Beltane- story.Even if it´s not known in America, Australia and England , the start of may is reason enough to have a party, isn´t it?

Bald ist Walpurgisnacht / Soon there is Beltane

Liebe Freunde
In drei Tagen tanzen wir in den Mai, und in vier Tagen ist Walpurgisnacht.
Die kleine pummelige Hexe wird es in diesem Jahr nicht mehr auf den Besen schaffen und feiert mit ihren Freunden in ihrem Lieblingspub auf ein paar Cocktails und einen Whisky.

In four days we have the beltane- fest.
The little chubby witch will not manage to ride the broom this year and so she and her friends are in their favourite pub, where they have a few cocktails and some whi(m)sky.
How do you celebrate the beltane- fest?

Witch Watchers

Ostern liegt nun schon hinter uns, und das nächste Fest das ansteht ist Walpurgisnacht, auch bekannt als Beltane. An diesem Fest wird bekanntlich nicht nur um den Maibaum getanzt sondern auch zum Blocksberg geflogen, jedenfalls dann wenn man eine Hexe ist.
Meine schlanken Zeiten gehören leider der Vergangenheit an. Ich werde immer runder und so geht es auch meiner kleinen Hexe. Zeit der Wahrheit ins Auge zu sehen und den Witch- Watchers beizutreten.

Ich habe Ostern nicht nur zu viel Süßes gegessen, sondern war ganz schön fleißig.

Außer der pummeligen Hexe habe ich mein erstes Plüschtier genäht, einen alten weisen Kater, der ein wenig aussieht wie mein Rossi als Methusalem. Was meine beiden Vierbeiner von ihrem neuen Mitbewohner halten ist nicht ganz klar.

Immerhin zeigten sie soviel Respekt vor dem Alter, das sie ihn nicht massakriert haben.

The easterdays are behind us now, and the holiday which comes up next is Beltane.

On this night, the people didn´t only dance into may (as we call it in german), they also fly to the witch- mountain known as Blocksberg, at least when they are witches.

My slender times belong unfortunatly to the past. I become rounder and rounder, just as my little witch does. Time to faith the truth and join the witch- watchers.

Well, I didn´t just eat sweets at easter, I was quiet busy. Beside my chubby witch, I made my first plush-doll. It´s and old, wise tomcat, that looks a little bit like my Rossi as a Methuselah.
What my quadrupeds think of their new mate is quiet unclear.
At least they have so much respect for his high age, that they don´t massacre him.
